Get uptime, endpoint, and exception alerts delivered to your Slack channels

Connect Slack to get notified in real time when something goes down, and when it comes back up.

What Gets Sent

Monocle sends to your Slack channel:

  • Monitor Down: an uptime monitor finds your service unreachable or returning errors. Includes the monitor name, URL, and environment.
  • Monitor Recovered: the service is back online, with the total downtime duration.
  • Endpoint alerts: an alert fires or resolves, with the current value, the threshold, and links to the endpoint and its slowest traces.
  • Exception summaries: new and regressed issues of a project, when an exception rule posts to the channel.

Setup

  1. Create an Incoming Webhook in your Slack workspace and choose the channel where alerts should go.
  2. In Monocle, go to Settings > Integrations > Notification channels and click Add channel.
  3. Choose Slack, give the channel a name, paste the webhook URL and hit Send test.
  4. Pick the channel where it should be used:
    • Uptime: check Uptime monitors under Use by default, or turn off Default channels in a monitor and pick the channel there.
    • Exceptions: check Exceptions under Use by default, or add a rule in Settings > Projects > your project > Exception alerts.
    • Endpoint alerts: under Notify in each alert.

You enter a webhook URL once. When you replace it, every monitor, alert, and rule that uses the channel follows. See Notification channels.
